TEXICO - Junior Jahvon Askew made four 3-pointers and scored 31 points Tuesday night as Texico clinched the No. 2 seed in next week's District 6-2A boys tournament with a 59-50 victory over Clayton.
Senior Cade Collins added three 3s and 13 points for the Wolverines (12-10, 3-2 district), while senior Kayden Queener finished with 10 points. Texico outscored Clayton 20-7 in the second quarter for a 12-point halftime margin.
For the Yellowjackets (11-8, 1-4), junior Rylan Ruf tallied 20 points.
In other Tuesday boys action:
Vega 66, Farwell 61 - The host Longhorns led by 10 points at halftime and pulled into a tie for second place with the Steers in District 3-2A, but Farwell won a coin flip to get the higher seed in this week's bi-district round playoffs. The Steers (23-7, 5-3) face Floydada (20-4) in a 6 p.m. (CST) first-round matchup on Tuesday at Littlefield.
Senior Ryan Grawunder scored 20 points, junior Joaquin Segovia had 14 and junior Slade Fowler 11 for Vega (10-10, 5-3). Senior Leo Nunez paced the Steers with 16 points, and sophomore Corey Stancell finished with 12.
Olton 79, Bovina 44 - At Olton, the Mustangs completed a perfect District 3-2A slate as four players finished in double digits, led by senior Chris Urbina with six of the team's 13 3-pointers and 20 points and junior Andrew Martinez with five 3s and 19 points. Martinez scored 10 points to help stake Olton (28-3, 8-0) to a 19-11 lead at the quarter.
For the Mustangs (4-17, 1-7), who had a play-in game at Boys Ranch on Friday for the fourth and final playoff seed from the district, junior Caesar Amaya netted 18 points and junior Darian DeLaRosa added 10.
Lamesa 63, Muleshoe 60 - The Tornadoes worked their way back from a 15-7 first-quarter deficit and had just enough to outlast the Mules in District 3-3A at Lamesa.
Sophomore Pedro Barrioz paced the Tornadoes (22-9, 8-4) with 20 points and junior Luke Martinez chipped in 18. Lamesa finished in a three-way tie for second in the district with Denver City and Brownfield, one game behind Dimmitt.
Leading the way for the Mules (7-15, 3-9) were sophomore Sebastian Kirven with 18 points and senior Brennen Davis with 17. Junior Irvin Torres had five steals.
Melrose 91, Grady 64 - At Grady, the Bufffaloes erupted for 27 points in the opening stanza and 31 in the third segment for a District 6-1A victory over the Bronchos.
Senior Logan DeVaney put in 27 points for Melrose (15-7, 6-3), with senior Brandon Garcia getting 14 and freshman Cy Draper 10. Sophomore Zane Rush topped Grady (7-17, 2-7) with 24 points, and senior Jordan Verble contributed 15.
Dora 70, Floyd 28 - The Coyotes outscored the host Broncos 24-0 in the second quarter and cruised to a District 4-1A win.
Junior Steven Masini had 21 points, sophomore Cache Skelley 17 and freshman Aaron Combs nine for Dora (13-8, 4-1), while Floyd (2-18, 0-6) was led by eight points each from seniors Ricky Ramirez and Cristian Mascorro.

Melrose 62, Grady 30 - In District 6-1A at Grady, the Lady Buffs opened a 17-5 lead at the quarter and won behind a balanced attack led by junior Isabelle Sena with 13 and sophomore Graci Odom with 11.
Sophomores Shayla White (15) and Taylor Foote (12) did most of the damage for the Lady Bronchos (9-12, 2-5).
Clayton 53, Texico 33 - The Lady Jackets moved in on the District 6-2A regular-season title, erasing a one-point halftime deficit by outscoring the host Lady Wolverines 29-8 over the final two stanzas.
Sophomore Emersen Beiland led Clayton (16-5, 5-0) with 25 points while junior Morgan Crisp followed with 10. Junior Catelyn Breshears scored 11 points for Texico (6-16, 0-5), and junior Maya Holman finished with 10.
Dora 73, Floyd 15 - The Lady Coyotes built a 17-5 first-quarter lead and pulled away from there in a District 4-1A win at Floyd.
Dora (11-9, 2-2) was led by sophomore Faith Jasso with 20 points, with junior Jenna Ramirez adding 12 and senior Brianna Nettles eight. High scorer for the Lady Broncos (2-14, 0-4) was sophomore Jona Baros with eight.
In a boys tilt on Wednesday:
Clovis Christian 54, San Jon 12 - At San Jon, the Eagles cruised to set up Friday's showdown at Fort Sumner for the District 6-1A title.
CCS (18-6, 8-1) led 29-2 at halftime. Playing reserves for a large share of the game, the Eagles got a personal-best 19 points from junior Caleb Van Beek and put all 11 players in the scorebook. For the Coyotes, junior Matthew Martinez had five points.
