Clovis man faces charges

A Clovis man is being held in the Curry County Adult Detention Center without bond after being arrested on a felony charges of aggravated assault on school employees and carrying a deadly weapon on school premises.

Court records show Joshua Moralez, 19, was arrested Feb. 23. The charges stem from a Feb. 7 incident in which Moralez is accused of shouting at Clovis High School officials and placing his hand on a gun in a car parked at the school.

The incident happened after school officials escorted a female student to her mother’s car after the student had been suspended for fighting. Moralez was a passenger in the mother’s car, records show.

Following the shouting incident, the vehicle left the school without further incident, according to court records.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 10.
