Music festival tickets on sale

The beginning of March marks the beginning of ticket sales for this year’s Clovis Music Festival.

The festival is three nights of music June 16-18.

Christian artist Danny Gokey opens the festival Thursday, June 16th with a performance at Legacy Church, 3401 North Norris in Clovis.

Gokey’s name may be familiar to long-time fans of the television show “American Idol” as he came in third place in the eighth season finale.

According to his website, since then he has had a number of hits on the Christian music charts and has garnered two Christian music Dove awards.

Friday, June 17th, the music moves to the Curry County Events center with a night of rock music.

Opening act is a Clovis based band, Rouzter, pronounced “rooster.”

On the band’s Facebook page they describe themselves as “Just some old school rockers looking for a good jam, fun gig and music therapy.

The band’s lead vocalist is local resident Tres Morgan.

Headline act for that second night of the festival is a group that had a number of hits in the early 1980’s, .38 Special.

The band has been described as Southern rock or Classic rock and had hit singles such as “Fantasy Girl,” “Hold on Loosely” and “Caught up in You,”

Chamber Executive Director Ernie Kos describes the final night of the music festival as “Norteño Night” featuring music from the groups La Furia del Bravo and La Maquinaria Norteño performing at the Curry County Events Center.

The festival also features daily tours of the Norman & Vi Petty Rock & Roll Museum at 105 East Grand Avenue.

Tickets for the festival concerts are available at the chamber’s website, clovisnm.org.
