ELIDA — The Elida Tigers put up crooked numbers in each of their four at-bats on Monday to post a 20-3 District 2-1A baseball victory over Dora.
Sophomore Seth Jimenez hit a two-run double and sophomore Jeremiah Woodruff added a two-run single in the Tigers’ six-run first. Junior Levi Victor, who pitched four innings and struck out eight for Elida (1-3, 1-1 district), added a bases-loaded triple in the Tigers’ six-run fourth.
Sophomore Cache Skelley’s third-inning RBI single was the lone hit for the Coyotes (1-4-1, 1-1) in a game shortened to 4 1/2 innings by the 10-run rule.
In other Monday area baseball:
Grady 13-14, Tucumcari JV 2-9 — At Tucumcari, the Bronchos improved to 7-0-1 heading into Thursday’s opening District 3-1A doubleheader at Logan.
The Bronchos took the opener in five innings on the run rule. Senior Teagan Watson pitched three innings for the win, allowing one run and striking out eight, while freshman Jayce Garrett went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, freshman Jax Piepkorn doubled twice and finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and sophomore Zane Rush added 2-for-4.
In Game 2 against the Rattlers, sophomore Emiliano Corrales was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs while Garrett again went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs and Rush had a 3-for-5 outing and drove in three runs.
In another District 2-1A tilt on Monday, Gateway Christian defeated Floyd 19-4 in 4 1/2 innings on the run rule at Roswell.
The Broncos (0-7, 0-2) tied the game 3-3 with a three-run third, but the Warriors (7-4, 2-0) promptly put it out of reach by scoring 15 times in the bottom of the frame.
