Early voting begins Tuesday

Both early and absentee voting for the June 7 primary election begins Tuesday in Curry and Roosevelt counties.

Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters from both county clerk’s offices beginning Tuesday, and early voting will open at the clerks’ offices and other locations in both counties on Tuesday, as well.

Absentee voters must have applications submitted by 5 p.m. June 2 in the Curry County clerk’s office and by 5 p.m. June 3 in the Roosevelt County clerk’s office in order to receive absentee ballots by mail.

Absentee voting applications can be picked up in person at both clerks’ offices, requested by calling the clerks’ offices, or requested online from the New Mexico Secretary of State’s office by entering http://www.nmvote.com, and then scrolling down the page to “Request an absentee ballot online” and clicking on that box. After applications are received, absentee voters will receive ballots and envelopes by mail.

In Curry County, completed absentee voting materials must be returned to the clerk’s office by mail or in person by 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 7.

Completed absentee ballots must be received by mail at county clerks’ offices or submitted in person by 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 7.

For in-person early voters, the clerks’ offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Roosevelt County clerk’s office, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Curry County clerk’s office. On Saturday, June 4, the last day for early voting, both county clerks’ offices will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for voters.

In Roosevelt County, early voting will also be available at the Jake Lopez Community Center, 705 E. Lime, Portales, from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, from May 24 to June 2, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday June 4.

In Curry County, early voting will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday rhough Saturday at the North Plains Mall Police Substation, 2809 Prince St., Clovis, from May 21 to June 4.
