State officials to be in Clovis for Economic Development Week

State officials are scheduled to be in Clovis this week for Economic Development Week.

Acting cabinet secretary of the Department of Workforce Solutions Ricky Serna is scheduled to be in Clovis along with state Economic Development deputy secretary Jon Clark and state Tourism Department deputy secretary Antoinette Vigil.

Raymond Mondragon, government specialist with the Eastern Plains Council of Governments, wrote in a news release EPCOG, along with Clovis Economic Development and the Clovis Curry County Chamber of Commerce, are hosting events this week to bring attention to economic development in the area.

Mondragon wrote the purpose of the nationwide Economic Development Week is to recognize the contributions made by professional developers to create more economically vibrant and livable communities.

Mondragon also noted acknowledging economic development “aims to increase awareness for local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.”

Mondragon listed the following Clovis Economic Development Week public events:

A Workforce Roundtable at 2 p.m. Monday with Department of Workforce Solutions acting cabinet secretary Ricky Serna at the Clovis-Curry County Chamber of Commerce, 105 E. Grand Ave.

A reception Monday at 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the EPCOG offices, 418 N Main St.

An economic development roundtable with state Economic Development Department deputy secretary Jon Clark at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Chamber.

A welcome reception for state Tourism Department deputy secretary Antoinette Vigil, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Norman & Vi Petty Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum, 105 E. Grand Ave.

A tourism economics roundtable at 9 a.m. Tuesday with Vigil at the Chamber.
