Clovis schools placed in 'secure and teach' mode

A news release from administrators at Clovis Municipal Schools main office reports at approximately 10:20 a.m. today Marshall Middle School was placed in “secure and teach” mode to allow for an investigation into the credibility of concerning social media comments.

A subsequent investigation by police and school staff concluded there was no credible threat to staff or students and the secure and teach order was lifted.

The Clovis Municipal Schools Facebook page also posted comment of “secure and teach” mode was ordered about 11 a.m. at I Academy, La Casita and Bella Vista schools because of a report of shots fired on West Seventh Street.

That mode has been lifted at those schools.

During “secure and teach” interior and exterior doors are secured and instruction continues as usual.
