Detention center administrator announces his resignation

Curry County Detention Administrator Mark Gallegos has submitted his resignation.

In a news release from county manager Lance Pyle writes Gallegos’ resignation comes after six years with the county.

Pyle reports Gallegos has been hired by the Core Civic-owned Cibola County Correctional Center that houses Federal marshal, ICE, and county detainees.

Pyle has appointed assistant detention administrator Joe Alaniz as interim detention administrator effective June 1.

Pyle praised Gallegos’ leadership, vision and drive and it “will be sorely missed.”

Pyle went on to write that Gallegos brought a superior level of professionalism, created and fostered a team environment and re-established detention service as a respected profession in the county.

In the news release Pyle wrote Gallegos said, “I am a very humble person and all of my accomplishments are based on the team that I mentored and I owe all of my success to my team who made all of these highlights and accomplishments a success.”
