Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The feasibility of a proposed regional mental health facility serving Curry, Roosevelt, Quay and DeBaca counties will be discussed among officials from the affected counties beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday in Portales’ Yam Theater, according to a notice from the Roosevelt County government.
The feasibility session will follow on from a town hall held in March in which officials from county government, law enforcement, fire and medical services and public health met to discuss behavioral health needs of the communities, what a regional mental health facility should include, where it should be located, and how it could be funded.
The cities of Clovis, Portales, and Fort Sumner will also be represented.
Thursday’s session is being organized by Initium, a Denver-based health care benefit company that is conducting a feasibility study to learn if and how a central behavioral health facility can be established to serve the four-county area.
The Roosevelt County Commission has rescheduled its meeting set for Tuesday to 9 a.m. Monday in the Commission Room of the Roosevelt County Courthouse, the notice stated.
The meeting will also be streamed live on the Roosevelt County YouTube channel.
Tuesday’s meeting was rescheduled to allow Roosevelt County Commissioners to attend the New Mexico Counties Summer Conference from Tuesday to June 17 in Albuquerque.
