Three sign with ENMU men's basketball team

PORTALES – Eastern New Mexico University Men’s Basketball head coach Brent Owen has announced the signing of three new members to the 2022-23 team.

Baej Czerniewicz of Gdask, Poland has signed along with Greg Johnson of Little Rock, Ark. and Alex Bossinakis from Fort Worth.

Czerniewicz comes to Eastern from Hoosac School in Hoosick, N.Y. While at Hoosac, Czerniewicz battled in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC), averaging 12 points and seven rebounds.

“Baej is 6’5 guard from Poland who can shoot the three and finish above the rim,” said Owen. “He will have four years to spend with us in Portales and we look forward to seeing him on the court with us this season.”

Johnson joins the program from Connors State College, competing at the NJCAA Division I level.

With the Cowboys, Johnson helped the team capture a NJCAA Region 2 Championship in 2022, and make an appearance in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament. The 6’4” guard played in 31 games for Connors with 10 starts, including making the starting five in his final nine games with the program.

Bossinakis will join his brother, Niko Bossinakis, as part of Eastern New Mexico Men’s Basketball team

A. Bossinakis joins ENMU after a standout high school career at Fort Worth Christian High School. The 6’2” guard was a team captain and led the team to a 21-17, along with an 8-2 district record.

“We love Niko and the toughness and work ethic he has brought to our program, but I want to be clear that Alex stood on his own to earn this opportunity,” said Owen.

The ENMU Men’s Basketball 2022 recruiting class now stands seven. Czerniewicz, Johnson and A. Bossinakis join Jose Murillo, Dwayne Chester, Malique Oates and Grehlon Easter.

Owen and his staff completed their first season in 2021-22 after the Hounds missed out on the 2020-21 season.
