PORTALES — First-year Eastern New Mexico University cross country coach Josh Harden has announced the program’s schedule for the upcoming fall season.
“I’m excited about our schedule,” Harden, who was promoted from assistant to head coach in both cross country and track in late May to replace Jeff Kavalunas, said in a release from ENMU. “I believe it gives our group a great opportunity to show growth throughout the season. We have some challenging meets to really push our top returners, while providing our key underclassmen some opportunities to gain valuable experience (that) we need to compete in the (Lone Star Conference).”
ENMU opens its season on Sept. 2 in Abilene Christian’s Naimadu Classic, then goes to Lubbock on Sept. 17 for a meet at Texas Tech. The Greyhounds will be in Hobbs on Sept. 23 for a meet hosted by New Mexico Junior College, then visit Wichita Falls, Texas for Midwestern State’s Mustang Classic on Oct. 8.
ENMU then finishes the regular season by hosting its first meet in more than a decade on Oct. 15, scheduled for Ned Houk Park north of Clovis. The LSC championships are slated for Nov. 5, hosted by MSU at Wichita Falls.
