ENMU begins review process for new president

Eastern New Mexico University announced Tuesday the review process for the new University Chancellor/President has begun.

Assistant vice-president for marketing and communications, John Houser, said in a press release 97 people have submitted their names for consideration in the search.

The candidates come from over thirty states, with a concentration of applicants from New Mexico and surrounding states.

President of the ENMU board of regents, Lance Pyle said, “We know ENMU is a strong system with great potential for growth and advancement. The breadth of this candidate pool shows what a great opportunity this is to join ENMU.”

Houser wrote ENMU has scheduled a series of community forums at the Portales, Roswell and Ruidoso campuses, to be held Aug. 29 through 31, to provide input to the 18-member presidential search committee appointed earlier this year. Committee review of the application materials will begin shortly after that.

“Our work will be intense,” committee chair and ENMU regent Phillip Bustos said, “We’re looking forward to diving in and finding the person ready to lead Eastern New Mexico University and the University system.”

New Mexico state law requires the regents give public consideration to at least five finalists; those interviews are expected to be held in late October.

Houser wrote if more information on the ENMU presidential search is desired he invites people to visit http://www.enmu.edu/PresidentialSearch.
