The Air Force Civil Engineer Center released a recorded update of the Department of the Air Force’s on-going actions to address per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) identified at Cannon Air Force Base.
According to a news release from Cannon Public Affairs the seventh public update is available for viewing at https://www.cannon.af.mil/Environmental/.
Some of the highlights of this most recent presentation is the talking about the PFAs investigation history at Cannon, remedial investigation, engineering evaluation, public engagement, going forward and additional information.
The presentation recaps some of the events in the investigative process including the statement in 2018 that Cannon’s drinking water supply wells had not been impacted by PFAs and the beginning of groundwater monitoring.
In 2019 there were samples taken from 25 private drinking well and three locations exceeded acceptable levels.
The presentation spoke of the pilot study involving four extraction wells and six injection wells.
More points were brought up in the presentation.
AFCEC is determining the most secure and effective way to reinstate live public updates and anticipates hosting December’s update virtually.
A PFAs meeting earlier this year was interrupted by the posting of obscene, immature images. The Air Force was looking in to the matter.
