Curry County volunteer fire departments in Ranchvale, Broadview and Field have received funding from the state fire grant program for this fiscal year totaling $671,726 according to a news release from the Curry County administration.
The Ranchvale Volunteer Fire Department will get $71,726 for equipment, Broadview Volunteer Fire Department will receive $300,000 for a new water tanker and the Field Volunteer Fire Department will receive $300,000 for a communication tower to improve communications in the northwest sector of the county.
County manager Lance Pyle credited county fire and safety director Michale Booth for his work on preparing the grant applications.
The news release reported the state received 196 grant applications and awarded 122 of the requests for a total funding statewide of almost $28.9 million.
