Several banks in Clovis have reported that over the past few weeks, individuals from Texas have been attempting to cash forged checks, according to a release by the Clovis Police Department.
“These fake checks have real local businesses listed on them along with the businesses’ account numbers,” the release states.
So far three males from Amarillo, Tx. have attempted or successfully cashed checks at Clovis banks. The police, who continue to investigate the case, say some of the individuals have been positively identified.
Anyone having information about the incident may contact the Clovis Police Department at 575-769-1921 or provide information anonymously by using the department’s Tip411 app, which can be downloaded from the app store by searching “Clovis PD” or by going to http://www.police.cityofclovis.org.
Another way to provide an anonymous tip is by calling Curry County Crime Stoppers at 575-763-7000, according to the release.
