Roosevelt County commissioners hosted two workshops Thursday.
A morning workshop focused on input for improvements at the county fairgrounds and an afternoon workshop’s subject was county roads.
Roosevelt County Manager Amber Hamilton said county officials and one local citizen attended the fairgrounds session that was facilitated by John Layman with NCA Architects. with five county officials and one member of the public attending.
Hamilton said Layman shared concepts and ideas for the fairgrounds master plan and some facility options to include a new food court area, the expansion of the entertainment area, enhanced ADA parking and accessible restrooms.
Layman said he will compile the ideas into a master plan draft along with some estimates to develop some phased options.
Hamilton said there will be another public meeting scheduled once the draft is developed.
County commissioners Rodney Savage, Paul Grider, Tina Dixon and commissioner-elect Roy Lee Criswell attended the County Roads Workshop Thursday afternoon according to Hamilton.
Hamilton and County Road Superintendent Rick Lovato presented and reviewed 5-year Road Plan documents.
They reviewed the infrastructure capital improvement plan (ICIP) listing and shared lists of potential roadways that could be included for Transportation Project Fund and Local Government Road Fund priorities for fiscal year 2024 funding applications. Hamilton said commissioners reviewed their priorities and discussed some changes to district needs. They also reviewed the ICIP listing.
