Police investigating auto burglaries

Clovis Police Department detectives are on the case of a rash of auto burglaries along Mabry Drive and Prince Street.

Clovis Police Lieutenant Trevor Thron writes in a news release during the late night hours of Wednesday and into the morning hours of Thursday, police received several reports of vehicles burglarized.

Numerous vehicle burglary reports were taken from various businesses and hotels along Mabry Drive and on North Prince Street.

In two of the incidents, the victims reported firearms stolen.

Thron reports the Wednesday/Thursday incidents were the second in a series of auto burglaries within a week.

Nov. 25 the Clovis Police Department took several reports, also in reference to vehicles being broken into. These vehicle break-ins were all located at businesses along North Prince Street.

A suspect was identified in connection with several of those burglaries and was arrested on Nov. 25.

That suspect has since been released from jail and it is unknown if he had any involvement with this most recent string of car burglaries.

Thron declined to identify that suspect.

Thron reports the most recent incidents are being investigated by the Clovis Police Department’s Detective Unit.

Thron reminds area residents, with the holiday season here, the Clovis Police Department reminds residents to secure high-value items such as purses, firearms, and gifts in your homes, and to not leave these items in vehicles overnight.

Thron also wrote when out shopping, secure items in the trunk or covered area of vehicles out of sight of “prying eyes.”

Thron writes, “Remember “LOCK IT, HIDE IT, OR LOSE IT!”
