Clovis police investigating aggravated robberies

Clovis police are investigating three cases of aggravated robberies that they believe were committed by juveniles early Thursday morning.

In a news release from the Clovis Police Department Lieutenant Trevor Thron reports between the hours of 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Thursday there were three thefts at three different Allsup’s convenience stores in Clovis.

The first call to Clovis dispatch was in reference to two juveniles who had stolen alcohol from the Allsups at Grand and N. Prince streets.

Thron reports one of the juveniles discharged a firearm in the parking lot as they were fleeing the scene. Witnesses believed the target was a dog that was barking at them as they fled.

The second call came from a resident in the area of 14th and Norris streets who reported hearing two gunshots and a subject yelling, “Hurry and get in the car.” This led officers to the Allsups at 1401 N. Norris St. where clerks reported two juveniles had stolen alcohol from the store.

Two broken glass alcohol bottles were found in the store parking lot. Store clerks didn’t report hearing any gunshots, and no threats were made to them when the shoplifting took place. Additionally, no casings were found at the scene.

The third call was in reference to a report of a robbery and a gunshot being fired. The clerks at the Allsups at 1020 Mitchell St. reported a juvenile male had taken two 12 packs of alcohol.

The store clerk confronted the juvenile as he was leaving the store and was struck by the juvenile with one of the 12 packs.

A second juvenile male reportedly confronted the clerk and produced a small silver handgun, pointing it at the clerk and stated, “Let go of my brother.” Both males fled the scene.

These cases are being investigated by the Clovis Police Department’s Detective Unit.

Thron reports the police department is working with Allsup’s to pull security video.
