Farwell turns back Roosevelt in final game before break

FARWELL – Farwell’s boys wrapped up the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule on Wednesday with a 42-36 victory over Lubbock Roosevelt.

Senior Alec Actkinson scored a season-best 19 points to pace the Steers (10-4), who owned an 11-6 advantage after the first stanza and maintained the lead most of the way. Meantime, the Class 3A Antelopes (8-5) were led by 12 points from 6-foot-4 senior Kaleb Harrell and 10 from 6-6 senior Cash Garia.

On Tuesday, Farwell swept a doubleheader at Lubbock Roosevelt, with the girls winning 75-26 while the boys notched a 47-33 victory over the Eagles.

Senior Charlie Trimble scored 16 points for the Lady Blue (14-3), who blew the game wide open with a 26-4 third-quarter surge. Also in double digits were sophomore Bella Stone with 13 and junior Chloee Whitten and sophomore Kennedi Richey with 10 apiece.

For the Lady Eagles (4-12), senior Nevaeh Bueno accounted for half the team’s scoring with 13 points.

Actkinson was again Farwell’s only double-figure scorer with 10 points. The Steers stretched a one-point lead at the quarter to 10 with a 16-7 scoring advantage over the Eagles (5-5) in the second stanza.

Farwell’s boys return to action on Tuesday in the Wildcat Invitational at Littlefield, while the girls begin play the same day in a tournament at Lubbock Caprock.
