The Clovis Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission has announced the winners of the commission’s speech, art and essay contests.
Winners in the speech contest are Zia Elementary student Colton Free in the elementary category and high school winner Shaylynn Baldwin, Clovis Christian School student.
Winners in the art contest from the Kindergarten level are Leon Johnson from the Arts Academy at Bella Vista, first place and Jayce Pollard, from Barry Elementary, second place.
Winners in the first and second grades category are Julius Burgos from James Bickley Elementary, first place; second place Isley Williams from La Casita Elementary and third place, Beckett Wiegel from Zia Elementary.
Third through fifth grade winners are all from James Bickley Elementary: Natalyn Rendon. first place; Aaron Drake, second place and Jayvym Garza, third place.
In the sixth through eighth grades category the winners are: Meagan Harris, Gattis Middle School, first place; second place winner Jared Quiring from Clovis Christian School and Aliaina Jemmon, third place, from Gattis Middle School.
Ninth grade winner is Naomi Mckinzee from Clovis Christian School.
Tenth through 12th grade winners in the art contest are Sean Jimenez in first place from Clovis Christian School and Faith Wilhite, second place, from Clovis High School.
In the essay contest, the winner in the first to second grade category is Zion Johnson from the Arts Academy at Bella Vista.
Third to fifth grade category winner is Mia Mercado, first place, from Clovis Christian School
In the sixth to eighth grade category the winners are Mikaela Woznick, first place, from Marshall Middle School and second place, Michael Gonzales, from Marshall Middle School.
Winners in the 10th to 12th grade category were both from Clovis Christian School and they are David Fackler, first place, and Matthew Lusk, second place.
