LEVELLAND – Farwell put 12 players in the scoring column, including five in double figures, and the Lady Blue cruised past Hale Center 87-36 on Monday night in a Class 2A bi-district girls contest.
Farwell (28-5) led 23-8 after one quarter and scored at least 19 points in each of the remaining stanzas to advance to a 5:30 p.m. (CST) area round game on Thursday against Wellington (22-9), which routed Sanford-Fritch on Monday.
Junior Chloee Whitten scored a season-best 19 points for Farwell, while senior Charlie Trimble added 13, seniors Carly Gilbreath and Jaelyn Smith 11 each and sophomore Makylee Baldwin 10. For the Lady Owls (23-10), senior Makayla Espinosa tallied 14 points.
In another 2A contest on Monday, Bovina (11-16) dropped a 95-26 decision to Sudan (25-8) at Hereford. The Fillies stayed close for a quarter, but the Hornettes went on a 15-0 run to take control.
Muleshoe 68, Alpine 47 – At Denver City, the Lady Mules erased a 10-5 deficit by outscoring Alpine 28-0 in the second quarter to advance to a 5:30 p.m. (CST) area round game on Thursday against Idalou (23-12) at Littlefield.
Seniors Kylie Hernandez with 20 points and Araceli Diaz with 14 topped the Lady Mules (17-15), who got scoring from 10 players in assuring themselves a winning season. High scorer for the Lady Bucks (14-14) was junior Novah Carrasco with 14 points.
In District 4-1A games at Roswell, Elida’s boys (9-12, 3-1 district) scored a 74-44 win over Gateway Christian (3-15, 1-4), while the Lady Warriors (6-10, 3-2) posted a 43-18 win over the Lady Tigers (3-14, 2-2).
