Clovis city commission will be reconsidering fees for parks use at its March 9 regular session.
The Clovis Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee met Tuesday night with one item on the agenda: Discussion and recommendation regarding daily use fees.
At the regular session of city commission Feb. 2, commissioners followed a recommendation of the committee to assess an annual fee of $50 per person for parks use.
A number of people in the city made their displeasure with the $50 fee known to city government, management and administrators since passage of the measure.
The fee would be instituted effective April 1.
An estimated crowd of approximately 110 people came to the Parks and Recreation meeting and close to 300 people viewed on live social media.
The committee voted to recommend to the city commission to charge $5 for youth, per season. $10 for adults per season, and they'll increase those charges - 50 cents for kids, $1 for adults each year for the next five years.
During the session Clovis auto dealer Gary Hamilton offered to pay all youth fees.
