Golf course clubhouse roof on Clovis' agenda

Clovis city commission will decide whether or not to replace the roof of the Colonial Park Golf Course Clubhouse roof at their regular session Thursday.

According to agenda notes from the city the roof was damaged in a hail storm in May 2021.

The project involves more than just roof replacement. Other components of the roof such as vents, fans and other items are to be removed and replaced.

“It’s a complicated roof,” City Manager Justin Howalt said. “We’ve been working with the insurance company for some time.”

If approved, WWRC Construction of Clovis will handle the project with a price tag of $518,727 and a net cost to the city of $211,523.

Much of the business on Thursday’s agenda could be regarded as routine: A presentation by Constance Williams from Senator Ben Ray Lujan’s office, anticipated approval of a plan to put rubber mulch on the playground at Hillcrest Park and an executive session at 4:45 p.m. that will precede the regular meeting concerning “the acquisition or disposal of real property.”

The commission meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Library at Seventh and Main Streets.
