Clovis Regional Airport has a new airport manager.
Amanda Brungart, the new manager, was introduced to Clovis City Commissioners Thursday at the commissioners regular session. Brungart replaces James Harris who resigned last fall to take a job as the manager of the Santa Fe airport.
In other business Thursday:
• Constance Williams, Regional Representative from U.S. Senator Ben Ray Lujan's office, had a presentation for commissioners on citizen services available from Lujan's office.
• Commissioners voted unanimously to move ahead with replacing the roof on the clubhouse of the Colonial Park Golf Course. The roof was damaged in a hailstorm in May 2021.
According to City Manager Justin Howalt, the city's insurance company will cover $307,000 of the $518,000 cost. The $211,000 balance will be paid by the city.
Howalt described the replacement roof as a "50-year roof."
Mayor Mike Morris took the time to remind commissioners and citizens the clubhouse is city property, and the city must maintain the building.
• Morris expressed his approval of funds distributed to Clovis in House Bill 505, the Capital Outlay bill: $840,000 for improvements to the Roy Walker Recreation Center, $300,000 for parks improvements and $200,000 for lighting city streets.
Morris spoke of being disappointed dollars requested for the city airport weren't allocated but he expressed hope in Senate Bill 2 which has $55 million for airports statewide.
Morris noted the money requested for the proposed Regional Behavioral Health Facility was only 25% of what was requested. More money may be available in SB2 or a fund called the "Junior Appropriations Bill."
