Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Easter Sunday is quickly approaching, and there won’t be a lack of fun things for families and kiddos to do this holiday.
The City of Clovis is putting on a community Easter egg hunt Saturday. City Clerk Vicki Reyes said this will be the city’s largest egg hunt to date “with close to 10,000 eggs and the most giveaways we’ve ever had.”
A flyer for the event says there will also be music, crafts, and giveaways for those in attendance. Children should bring their own egg baskets.
That egg hunt will be Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at the Guy Leader Softball Complex, 1801 E. 14 St.
That’s not all for the City of Clovis, however. There will also be an underwater egg hunt, which is unique because hunters get to search for eggs in the city pool and exchange them for candy and prizes. That will also be this Saturday, April 8 at the Clovis Aquatic Center, 1700 E. 7th St. Open swim rates apply.
• Starting at 1 p.m., parents with children six months to four years old can hit the water.
• Ages five through six can start at 1:30 p.m.
• Ages seven through nine can start at 2 p.m.
• Ages ten and older can start at 2:30 p.m.
• The pool will remain open at 3 p.m. for swimmers
The Portales High School (PHS) National Honor Society and Business Professionals of America groups will be putting on the first community egg hunt since before the pandemic, according to Karl Terry with the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce.
That egg hunt will be Saturday starting at 2 p.m. at the soccer fields behind PHS, 201 S. Knoxville, Portales. The hunt is open to ages 2-10, and children should bring their own baskets.
Many area churches are planning Easter services Sunday.
