The Roosevelt County Commission took no action Tuesday related to a New Mexico Supreme Court ruling that blocks local ordinances, including one passed by Roosevelt County, that would ban shipment of equipment and supplies used to provide abortions.
After an executive session Tuesday in which the Supreme Court case was discussed, the commission took no action.
Commissioner Paul Grider, president of the commission, said he does not anticipate the commission will take action on the matter at a later date.
The executive session was part of a regular commission meeting in which the commission took the following actions:
• Approved a flag policy for county government that includes requirements for flying flags on holidays.
• Approved an organization chart for the county government. Personnel Coordinator Lauren Bagwell said the chart will help the county assemble a budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. County Manager Amber Hamilton said the chart reflects efforts to enhance status of some positions to increase pay levels.
