An Easter Sunday blaze resulted in a Clovis family having to leave their rental home at Ninth and Oak streets.
Clovis Fire Department (CFD) Deputy Fire Chief Fay Craigmile told The News Monday the home's garage is where the fire started.
"When we arrived on the scene the garage was fully involved," Craigmile said. "The cause of the fire is undetermined. An insurance investigator will be handling that investigation."
The CFD incident commander who was on the scene of the blaze contacted the Red Cross so the family could have a place to stay for the night.
Craigmile said the fire damaged the garage.
"The type of damage with the garage rendered the home uninhabitable," Craigmile said. "The house had some smoke damage, smoke entered into the home through garage entryways."
Craigmile did not have the identity of the family.
"We're just glad everyone is accounted for, and they were safely outside the house," Craigmile said.
