Zia Powersports moving to Traci's Greenhouse building

Sometime either late this year or early next year, the 64,000 square foot building that now houses Traci's Greenhouse at 2600 Mabry Drive, Clovis, is expected to become the new home of Zia Powersports, the motor sports business's owner Tanner Gearn said on Thursday.

He said the building's area and its surrounding 3.5 acres will allow his business to more readily accommodate customers and his inventory of motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and other back-country-recreation machines with wheels.. The space would be about triple the space he has now, which is about 20,000 square feet, in the 1600 block of Prince Street.

For Traci Earle, owner of Traci's Greenhouse, the sale of the building will give her time to consider her next business venture, one that involves less building space. She now sells plants, garden supplies and general merchandise, including toys, within that space.

"It's a big old building and I'm ready to move on," she said. "It's time to downsize."

In announcing the sale, Earle posted on Facebook, 'Stay tuned as my journey will continue. Thank you to all that have been a part of my journey the last 11 years. You have helped me do what I love."

Beginning in 1995, the building housed Aucutt's General Store from 1995 to about 2001, Joe's Boot Shop from 2001 to about 2012, and Traci's Greenhouse from 2012 to the present, Bob Aucutt, a former owner said.

As Aucutt's, the store, which Aucutt described as "huge," sold hardware, paint, clothing, "all kinds of feed, and lots of hay," Arcutt said.

Aucutt said markets changed over the years, and in 2001, he said, it was time to sell.

Aucutt had bought the building from Nels Anderson, he said, who operated Nels' A&M Farm Store there.

In the meantime, Aucutt said, the family operates Aucutt's Paint Store, now on Mitchell Street north of downtown Clovis, as it has for five generations.

According to the Bizapedia website, Anderson's A&M Farm and Garden Supply occupied the Mabry Drive building beginning in 1975.

The building was listed on the Zillow real estate site, valued at $575,000, but the actual purchase price was unknown on Wednesday.

Gearn said while the sale is under contract, "there are still some matters to be worked out" before Zia Powersports moves into the Mabry Drive site.
