Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Young workers who are looking for business experience are being invited to participate in the 2023 Curry County Summer Internship program.
The county is also seeking business partners for the program.
According to a news release from the county administration, a grant has been awarded to the county for $269,572 specifically for the program.
The program is described as offering a variety of professions from diverse employers throughout Curry County.
The 8-week internships will begin on June 5 and end on July 28.
“I encourage local business owners to have an impact in our youth and reach out and offer your business as a placement,” County Manager Lance Pyle said.
Pyle describes the program as a great opportunity for youth to gain experience, earn money, and benefit businesses involved in the program.
“A winning opportunity for our community,” Pyle said.
Curry County placed 72 interns with various local business during the program in 2022, and 31 interns in 2021.
“We are increasing our efforts this year and hosting 100 interns at various places of employment in our community. We are still in need of community partners to provide on-site training for interns,” County HR Director Darian Roybal.
Roybal said businesses who are interested in hosting an intern should contact the county Human Resources Department.
“You will be making a difference in these students’ lives, and you may even find a long-term employee,” Roybal said.
