Clovis resident graduates from New Mexico School of the Deaf

A Clovis student has college plans after graduating from The New Mexico School for the Deaf (NMSD) in Santa Fe.

According to a news release from NMSD, Efrim Rodarte-Estrada took his education seriously and was involved with extra-curricular activities.

Rodarte-Estrada recently went on a trip to Greece as part of NMSD’s International Studies Program.

He also participated in athletics through the years including varsity football, varsity basketball and varsity track and field.

The release also detailed that Rodarte-Estrada was also on NMSD’s Cheer Team this year which won a national cheer competition this past winter. E

He was an active member of NMSD’s Jr. National Association of the Deaf organization and student body government where he and fellow students held leadership retreats and conducted several food drives for the Food Depot and St. Elizabeth’s Shelter in Santa Fe.

According to the release, Rodarte-Estrada is “an outstanding young man who is kind, warm and friendly, well-liked and respected.”

Rodarte-Estrada has been accepted to The Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf in Big Spring, Texas.

“The NMSD Community is proud of him and we wish him well as he goes on to his next chapter which will include college in the fall,” read the release.
