Clovis to host 2023 Yard of the Summer contest

So you think your yard is the best in the city of Clovis?

There’s a contest for that.

“The city of Clovis is hosting its annual summer yard contest to recognize residences and businesses for their outstanding outdoor spaces, according to a news release from the city manager’s office.

“The purpose of the program is to promote pride of ownership in our properties, which, in turn, improves the appearance of our community and acts as an economic development incentive for people and businesses looking to relocate in Clovis,” the news release read.

Only one round of the “Yard of the Summer” contest will be held, and a special category has been added to recognize yards with a xeriscape element.

The public will vote for the winners of the contest.

To nominate a residence or business for the Yard of the Summer contest, the public can submit a short online form via the city’s website at http://www.cityofclovis.org.

The release states the nomination period is now open and will close at 3:00 p.m., July 14.

Once all nominations have been collected, the public will vote from July 17 to July 28 for their favorite outdoor spaces within the following categories:

• One residence from each of the four commission districts.

• One xeriscaped residence from each of the four commission districts.

• One business among all districts.

• One xeriscaped business among all districts.

The voting form will be made available on July 17 on the city’s website at http://www.cityofclovis.org and its Facebook page at City of Clovis, NM (City Government) or http://www.facebook.com/cityofclovis.

The winning residences and businesses will be announced via Facebook after the voting period, and the winners will also be recognized during the August 3 city commission meeting.
