A Portales-area married couple are dead after what Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating as a murder suicide.
The bodies of Elisa Aleman and her husband Aurelio Flores were found late Thursday night in one room of their home in the 1900 block of Westview-Garnet Road northwest of Portales. Deputies had responded to a call about apparent gunshot victims, said Deputy Eric Muller.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A Sheriff's Department news release reported Aleman had been shot several times in the torso, and Flores suffered an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
Muller said a handgun apparently used in the slayings was found in the room. The bodies have been taken to the state Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque for further investigation, according to the news release.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased who have been notified of this tragic event,” the news release stated.
