A large retailer is on track to open at the North Plains Mall this fall.
Big R, the Pueblo, Colo. based farm and ranch retailer, plans a “soft opening” Oct. 21 according to North Plains Mall General Manager Leeann Glen.
“There will be a Big R grand opening Nov. 4,” Glen said.
Big R Chief Operating Officer Adam Carroll told The News via email earlier this year, “The store will occupy 42,000 square feet plus a 25,000 square foot outside display yard. The store will have 22 to 25 employees to start.”
Glen shared other North Plains Mall news saying the mall is “working on redeveloping the former Dillard’s space on the mall’s south side into new national stores for Clovis.”
Mall owner Sam Mick speaking by phone from Colorado Thursday outlined the stores negotiating locating to the Clovis mall.
“We are working with Marshall’s, Ross, Ulta and Five Below. We’re also looking for an owner/operator who may be interested in running a 30,000 square foot pickleball operation also in the former Dillard’s ‘box,’” Mick said.
Mick said there is still a 23,500 square foot space where the Stage store used to be located. He’s open to ideas on what to put there as well as he’d like to talk to anyone who is interested in the pickleball operation.
“Call me or Leeann at the mall office,” Mick said.
While the former Stage location doesn’t have a permanent occupant, Glen said a Halloween specialty store, Spirit Halloween” is opening Thursday in that space.
“We’re going to have a new occupant in the mall’s Food Court, Pita Pocket,” Glen said.
