Active shooter report proves false

A report of an active shooter at a Clovis restaurant Wednesday morning was false, police said in a news release.

According to the news release:

About 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, police received a call from a person reporting someone was actively shooting people inside K-Bob’s Steakhouse at 1600 Mabry Dr. When law officers arrived, they found "the restaurant was occupied by employees busy preparing to open the restaurant for business. Entry was made into the restaurant and officers discovered there was not an active shooter threat."

Police located the person who made the call and learned the person was experiencing a mental health crisis, according to the news release. A local Mobile Crisis Response Team was contacted and they dispatched counselors to evaluate the caller, the release stated. The incident was "turned over to the Mobile Crisis Response Team for further actions."
