The city of Texico and EPCOR Water, the company that provides water service for the city of Clovis, are negotiating an “emergency services” agreement, which might lead to EPCOR’s acquisition of Texico’s water system, according to EPCOR and Texico officials.
“The Texico City Council approved a negotiation for an emergency services agreement,” Texico Mayor Jerry Bradley said on Friday. “Negotiations are ongoing, and there would be an option to buy the system. That’s part of the negotiation.
Mark Huerta, EPCOR’s operations manager in Clovis, said the emergency services deal with “operations and maintenance” of the Texico system, which he said were made necessary by the resignations of both of the city’s water system operators.
Huerta said that a possible EPCOR acquisition of Texico’s water system was among topics under discussion in the negotiations, but he stressed on Monday that negotiations were ongoing and no decisions have been made as of Monday.
