Cougars notch win over ENMU

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Freshman Danel Hach and senior midfielder Zoe Sims accounted for unassisted goals as the Colorado Christian women’s soccer team posted its first win of the season on Friday, blanking Eastern New Mexico University 2-0.

Hach converted a deflection off an ENMU defender and one-timed it past Greyhounds senior goalkeeper Samantha Jeffries in the 33rd minute for her first collegiate tally. Sims stole a Hounds pass deep and tucked it in under Jeffries to make it a two-goal difference in the 63rd minute.

Jeffries was on the defensive most of the day and finished with nine saves. CCU (1-2-1) outshot the Hounds 20-1 overall and 11-0 on goal for the match.

On Wednesday, the Hounds (1-2-3) begin Lone Star Conference play with a 7 p.m. clash against Lubbock Christian at Greyhound Stadium.
