Trustees seek proactive visionary
A presidential profile has been approved by the Clovis Community College Board of Trustees.
At their regular meeting Wednesday, trustees discussed the profile, which will go up on the website for candidates to look at when considering applying for the job of president.
“It addresses all of our concerns, all of our wants or needs for the presidential profile,” Chair Lora Harlan said.
According to the profile, “The next President of Clovis Community College will lead and demonstrate an
established record of building consensus, uniting the college community and the regional community with a mission-focused drive and promoting a culture of shared governance.
“The next president will provide visionary, proactive, long-term, and trusted leadership throughout a predominantly rural service area.”
The board was joined by Bill Holda, a consultant with ACCT, the firm hired to lead the search.
Holda expressed how impressed he was with the search committee the board had put together.
“I was very impressed with the diversity -- the way they represent not only college staff and students, but also the various sectors in the community,” Holda said.
The committee also put together the profile that was reviewed Wednesday.
The profile states that the candidate who will be successful in landing the job will lead, increase enrollment, attract and retain employees, strengthen relationships with business and community leaders, and work with faculty among other characteristics.
Qualifications for the job include:
• Minimum three years of senior level administrative experience, five preferred, with increasing responsibility in higher education.
• Prior higher education teaching experience strongly preferred.
• An earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution is highly preferred.
Holda said the target date for all applications to be submitted is Jan. 16.
