FRIONA – Senior Cade Seaman scored 17 points on Monday and Friona’s boys built a double-digit lead through three quarters en route to their first win of the season, a 43-36 victory over Bovina.
Seniors Jose Saucedo and Carson Seaman added 10 and nine points, respectively, for the Chieftans (1-2). Friona extended a 15-12 lead through one quarter to 11 points at the end of three and held off the Mustangs (0-2) the rest of the way.
Senior Gabriel Nieto led Bovina with nine points, followed by senior Miguel Lopez and freshman Eric Solis with seven apiece.
Bovina’s girls picked up their first win in six games, pulling even as time expired in regulation and turning back the Squaws (0-3) in overtime. No other information was available on the game.
