Water conservation acknowledged

The Ogallala Land & Water Trust’s efforts to conserve water in the Ogallala Aquifer in an area near Cannon Air Force Base have been acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Defense in a recent department publication.

OL&WT Executive Director Ladona Clayton reports the trust’s work has been highlighted in a government publication along with two other conservation efforts in the country near military installations.

“The REPI Program (Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration) is like a team that works to keep two important things in balance: military training readiness and the environment. It helps the military train effectively while also protecting the environment and the communities around it,” Clayton wrote in an email.
