Law enforcement agencies to split grant

The Clovis Police Department and the Curry County Sheriff’s Office will split a $23,000 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant.

The Clovis city commission unanimously approved the measure Thursday night.

The grant will provide more body and dash cameras for law officers as well as provide software to protect private information in security footage, officials said.

Commissioners also on Thursday unanimously approved an ordinance that authorizes the execution and delivery of a water project fund loan/grant agreement. Mayor Mike Morris said the agreement is between the New Mexico Finance Authority and the city of Clovis.

The fund is for $2.5 million with a loan of $1 million for the purpose of financing the costs of construction of a distribution pipeline to deliver recycled water across the city.
