New business features 'treasures'

“Frugal Frog” has opened for business at 117 W. Fourth St. in Clovis.

“The store is nostalgic, eccentric and fun. There’s new stuff, used stuff, antiques, glass, children’s clothes and accessories, handmade macrame items and canned items from a local vendor,” owner Stephanie Maldanado said.

Maldanado said “Frog” has been her nickname since childhood.

“My grandfather started calling me that. Everybody’s called me ‘Frog,’ and I am frugal,” Maldanado said.

Maldanado is a west Texan by birth.

Sources for the stock in the Frugal Frog are local vendors, storage unit auctions, estate auctions “and such,” according to Maldanado.
