Obituary: Richie Don McClure

Richie Don McClure of Texico, NM was born on October 21, 1940, to Rufus Love and Yuva Rue McClure in Millersview, Texas. He graduated in 1958 from Eden High School and attended San Angelo Jr College (Angelo State University) and then went to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. He graduated with a degree in Biology and a teaching certificate. He began his teaching career in Dickinson, Texas in 1962 where he met and married Mary Elaine Thompson. They married on August 17, 1963 and had two daughters, Diane (Jeff) Queener and Lana (Brian) Smiddle. He later received his Masters Degree in education from Sul Ross State University. He also worked as a chemist for Duval Sulphur Co.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, his two daughters and five grandchildren, Lacy (Wade) Plummer, Dakota (Juliana) Price, Ryli (Daniel) Knauss, Justin Johns and Zandi (Lizet) Queener, sister Nancy (Don) Whitaker and sister-in-law Shirley Thompson.

He was preceded by his parents, his brother Frankie McClure; his precious granddaughter Summer Price; his brother-in-law and good friend Jean Thompson and Jean's daughter, Belinda.

Richie loved going to lunch 5 and 6 days a week at Juanito's Restaurant in Clovis with Albert helping him and visiting with him. All the wonderful people at Farwell Care & Rehabilitation Cetner were so kind to him and he enjoyed them so much. There will be no funeral service at this time. Any donations in his memory may be made to Farwell Care & Rehabilitation Center or Texico Firefighters Assn. (Citizens Bank of Texico). Cremation has taken place.
