Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Snow and high winds have resulted in the closure of U.S. 60/84 between Clovis and Texico, according to the Curry County Sheriff's Department. Multiple vehicle crashes have been reported.
The city of Clovis issued a blizzard warning until 11 p.m. Monday. Snow up to two inches and 65 mph wind gusts were making travel difficult across the region.
Multiple roads north of Clovis were also closed and travel was difficult throughout eastern New Mexico into Texas.
"Plan on snow packed or icy road conditions," the city warning reads.
City officials said parts of State Road 209 and County Road 20 were closed following an accident.
Clovis police urged residents to stay home.
"The roads are really hazardous right now," CPD posted on its Facebook page. "We have multiple reports of crashes on U.S. 70, 60/84, and NM 209. ... If you go out, drive slowly and defensively, you are not going to get anywhere in a hurry."
