Volunteer fire chief killed in ATV accident

The volunteer fire chief for the Pleasant Hill community was killed Monday afternoon when his all-terrain vehicle rolled over near the 1600 block of State Road 77.

Ted Richardson, 64, died at the scene, according to a news release from Curry County Sheriff Michael Brockett.

The release said Richardson was herding cattle when the accident happened in a pasture.

“Chief Richardson volunteered for the Pleasant Hill Fire Department for over 40 years,” the news release stated.

“The Curry County Sheriff’s Office mourns the loss of a dedicated public servant who volunteered countless hours to protect the residents of Curry County from fire and provide aid to those injured.”
