Pauline was a 1959 graduate of Floyd High School. On June 13, 1960, in the Bethel Baptist Church in Bethel, NM, she was married to Harry Finis Johnson. From soon after their marriage until about 1963, they made their home in Pennsylvania where Mr. Johnson's family home was located. They returned to Portales to make their home for the rest of their lives. In 1980, Pauline began working at Roosevelt General Hospital as a receptionist and bookkeeper. When the new hospital was opened, she returned to work until her retirement in 2005.

Pauline loved to read. Most of what she read was romance novels and westerns. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and other word games. For several years, she and her husband belonged to a bowling league in Clovis, along with their friends, Jennie, and Jerry Sparks. In addition, Pauline created a number of beautifully embroidered items.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff Johnson of Portales, Patrick Johnson of Portales, Scott Johnson and his wife, Alisha of Hobbs, NM and Andy Johnson and his wife, Tammy of Portales; five grandchildren, Serina Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Michael Johnson, David Johnson and Amber and husband, Josh Torvik; two great-grandchildren, Noah, and Abel Peperis; and her only sister, and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Ardene Shaffer of Joplin, MO.
