Allen Kennith Yates, age 89, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Muffley Funeral Home, 1430 Thornton St., Clovis, NM. Funeral service to be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, 11:00 am at Sandia Baptist Church, 1100 W Manana Blvd, Clovis, NM with Pastor Tommy Hohstadt officiating. Burial will take place at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, 1601 E. Llano Estacado, Clovis, NM. Grandsons Gary Allen Yates, Aaron Long, Seth Carruth, Adam Carruth, Eric Yates, and Caleb Yates will serve as pallbearers.
Allen was born on May 7, 1934, to Toge Yates and Thelma Jenkins in Hugo, Oklahoma. Dad loved God, his family, and his Country foremost, and enjoyed bowling, camping, gardening, and fishing. Allen retired from the United States Air Force as a M.Sgt. then continued for another 15 years as Civil Service before completely retiring. Allen taught Sunday school and served on the nomination committee and the usher committee for Sandia Baptist Church. He was an assistant Boy Scout Master from 1973-1974, member of Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Graduates Association from 1975-1977.
Dad will be truly missed by his family and those who knew him well.
Survivors include children: Sherri (Travis) Yates Carruth, Gary (Estrella) Lane Yates, Rebekah (Walt) Yates Garrison and Rhonda Yates, many grand and great grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews, one sister, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Arline Beard Yates, oldest son; Jack Yates, youngest son; Kevin Yates, as well as many other loved ones.
The family would like to thank the PRMC Hospice Care team for being so attentive and taking care of Dad in his final days.
