Eastern New Mexico University has released its football schedule for the 2024 season.
The Greyhounds open against New Mexico Highlands for the third season in a row, facing the Cowboys on Thursday, Aug. 29, in a 6 p.m. kickoff at Las Vegas, N.M.
“I’m ready for the fall to get here,” ENMU coach Kelley Lee said. “This season we get to play for the Wagon Wheel (against rival West Texas A&M), and I think there’s a lot to look forward to for the Greyhounds in 2024.”
ENMU is coming off a 5-6 campaign last fall, including 2-6 in the Lone Star Conference, as Kelley began his second still at the helm for the team.
The remaining games are on Saturday, beginning with the Sept. 7 home opener against new LSC member Sul Ross State, although it won’t count toward the conference standings.
After a bye week, the Hounds host Midwestern State on Sept. 21. Four of the last five meeting between ENMU and the Mustangs have been decided by single digits, including MSU’s 34-31 win last season at Wichita Falls on a 54-yard field goal as time expired.
The Hounds visit Angelo State on Sept. 28, then welcome Central Washington to Greyhound Stadium on Oct. 5. They visit Western Oregon the following week, then play WT in the Wagon Wheel tilt on Oct. 19.
Rounding out the schedule are games at Western New Mexico in the Chili Bowl on Oct. 26, a home conference tilt against Sul Ross on Nov. 2, the home finale against Texas-Permian Basin at noon on Nov. 9 and at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Nov. 16.
