Legacy Church business of month

Legacy Church of Portales was named Business of the Month for March by the Portales/Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce.

According to the Chamber’s website, the church received the honor for setting up a warming station for the homeless and those in need during some cold nights recently.

The church, located at 820 W. 18th St., has opened its doors during inclement weather at least three times.

“They offer a safe place to sleep, warm food and drinks, along with goodie bags for those looking for refuge from the elements.

“There are about nine members who help make this act of kindness an act of service for the community,” according to the website.
