Obituary: David Earl Finifrock Jr.

May 1, 1966 - February 16, 2024

David Earl Finifrock Jr., born May 1,1966 in Ogden, Utah to father, David Finifrock Sr., currently of Tracyton, Washington and mother Cynthia Finifrock currently of Gig Harbor, Washington, passed away from a massive heart attack on Friday, February 16, 2024, at a construction site he was working on in Key Center, Washington.

David went to high school on Bainbridge Island, Washington and developed many friendships with his classmates there. Early in his adulthood he spent several years in New Mexico with his Grandparents Earl and Lillian Finifrock, Aunt Karen, Uncle Darrell, Uncle Edward, and Aunt Mary and worked with Two Horse Construction in Clovis, where he learned the building trade. He then returned to the Great Northwest and worked as an engineer on several large seiner ships in the Baltic Sea near Dutch Harbor, surviving several winter storms in that region. Eventually, he saved enough money to pay for his own trawler for his own fishing business, following his dreams on the " Sea Queen".

David, at age 57, was, among other great things, a master carpenter/builder, having constructed several homes and a large number of decks, garages and other projects in the Key Center/Puget Sound, Washington region. David was also a successful commercial fisherman, spending most summers for the past several years on his 50' trawler, the "Sea Queen", in the waters near Wrangell, Alaska, fishing for salmon.

Most people who knew David would describe him as a good and honest friend, nephew, and cousin, a great craftsman, a wonderful son to his parents, and generally "one of the best guys you would ever want to know". David never married, mostly because he was always looking for a woman who would be as wonderful as his mother. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to find her. David was preceded in death by his Grandparents Earl and Lillian Finifrock of Clovis, New Mexico, and his Grandmother Bednarski of Texas, his Uncle Edward Finifrock of Clovis and Uncle Don Bednarski of Texas.

David is survived by his parents David Finifrock Sr. and stepmother Janie, of Tracyton, Washington, his mother Cynthia Finifrock and his brother James D. Harris of Gig Harbor, Washington, and his stepbrother Daniel of Washington state, his Uncle Darrell and Aunt Karen Holland of Clovis, New Mexico and his Aunt Mary Finifrock Ausland of Clovis, New Mexico, his Uncle Richard Lee Bednarski of Texas and numerous cousins in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Montana, Minnesota, Washington, Pennsylvania and Mexico.

We, who loved him, wish to thank all of the wonderful friends, relatives and acquaintances who have expressed their condolences to us. We, as we're sure you, will miss him dearly.

Written by David's father.
