Anne Corene Linville, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Central Baptist Church, 2501 N Norris St, Clovis, NM 88101. Burial to follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Garden, 1601 E Llano Estacado.
Mel Mapes, Ron Trollinger, Leon Kelley, David Hudson, Larry Coker, J.E. Williams, Brian Hudson, Ronnie Cole, and Douglas Linville will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Douglas Goddard III, Kenneth Broad and the Charlie's Angels Sunday School Class.
Anne was born on August 11, 1937, to G. Frank Shipp and Alice Belle Council Shipp in Durham, NC. She grew up in the community of Lowes Grove just outside Durham where her parents were tobacco farmers. She earned a BA in elementary education from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. She started her teaching career teaching elementary school in Fayetteville, NC, home of Ft. Bragg, where she met her husband of 39 years, Robert Linville, who was stationed there in the army. They married in 1962 and moved to Clovis, NM, where she continued her teaching career and taught second grade at Sandia Elementary until she retired in 1994.
Anne loved the Lord and serving others in His name. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Clovis, NM, for over 60 years, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, serving on the bereavement committee, and with the Charlie's Angels Sunday School class, as well as coordinating the annual teacher's luncheon. She also volunteered with the disability ministry, Access-Life.
She was a great encourager and enjoyed sending cards for all occasions. She treasured spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Monday night was game night with her friends. Anne loved cooking and made the best banana pudding and chocolate meringue pie!
Survivors include two children: Leanne Elizabeth Goddard (Paul Douglas) of Umatilla, FL, and Gregory Charles Linville of Raleigh, NC; two brothers: Frank (Becky) Shipp of Hillsborough, NC and Marshall Shipp of Durham, NC; three grandchildren: Laura Linville of Big Springs, TX, Doug (Loree) Linville of Midland, TX, and Robert Linville of Raleigh, NC; seven great-grandchildren: Matthew Linville, Austin Linville of Big Springs, TX; Kira Linville and King Linville of Raleigh, North Carolina; Luke Linville, Levi Linville, and Landon Linville, all of Midland, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, G. Frank Shipp, and Alice Belle Council Shipp; husband, Robert Charles Linville; sister-in-law, Carole Shipp, brother, Ray Shipp and sister-in-law, Iris Shipp.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Pat Moody and family who loved and cared for Anne in her final days as well as the host of others who sent cards and visited. Anne valued friendships and often expressed how thankful she was for her special friends.
